The Melody Choir Summer Concert 2026 and Winter Season

The Melody Choir Summer Concert 2026
What a wonderful evening we had for our 2026 summer concert at St Andrew’s Church, Broughton.
It is the third year in a row that the church has welcomed The Melody Choir, and we are always delighted to return. St Andrew’s is such a beautiful church and provides a lovely setting for our community choir. As always, we were made incredibly welcome, and the lovely people who help run the church — along with the Vicar herself — provided excellent refreshments for our sold-out audience. We are very grateful to them all for helping to make the evening such a success.
Our summer repertoire included a mixture of old favourites and some new additions. One of our new pieces was Disney Dazzle, a medley of Disney songs which proved to be a fun challenge for the choir and a great addition to the programme.
We were also treated to some excellent solo performances from Emily, Jonathan and Lizzie, as well as, of course, our Musical Director Jonathan and his lovely fiancée Kate. Their performances were a real highlight of the evening.
And then came the surprise!
For our performance of Teddy Bear’s Picnic, members of the choir donned teddy bear ears or brought along their cuddly friends for a rather unusual addition to our concert. It was particularly good to see our Musical Director joining in and putting his teddy bear ears firmly in place too!
One of the things we love most about our concerts is seeing our audience joining in with us. There is something very special about singing together — whether you are part of the choir or sitting in the audience — and we really do believe that singing together can make life better.
Our Choir Manager, Christopher, led us through the evening and took the opportunity to thank all of the people who helped make the concert possible. There are always lots of people working behind the scenes, and we are very grateful for everything they do.
This summer also brought a very sad loss to our choir family. One of our choir members sadly passed away during the summer break, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. We hope that during her time with The Melody Choir she found friendship, companionship and, above all, the simple joy that comes from singing together. We will remember her with great fondness as we continue to sing.
We would like to thank everyone who came along to support us, our wonderful audience, the team at St Andrew’s Church and everyone who helped make our summer concert such a memorable evening.
Now, as summer draws to a close, we are looking forward to starting our winter season in September.
Our open evenings take place every Monday evening. They are free to attend and there is no audition required — just come along and give us a try!
